Style Tips for Dressing a Toddler
Almost two years ago, my lovely friend Christina featured Vy and I on her blog, Mouse in Your House. In the post, I shared insight into how I pick out clothes for my toddler.
Now that some time has passed, it's nice to see that my style tips can be applied at any age, not just the toddler years. She is almost 5, and they still hold true for us.
There are more details in Christina's original post, but here are some takeaways:
TIP ONE: Add some classics to the closet. These pieces will surpass any trends or fleeting "favorites" your child may have at the moment, which is also a plus for the next child that gets the hand-me-downs.
TIP TWO: Let go of rules or pre-conceived notions. Look outside of your kid's current clothing department. Often times, I find oversized sweaters for Vy in the boys' department or shirt's that make cute dresses in the older girls' department.
TIP THREE: Share your accessories. Necklaces and scarves are great for sharing with your little ones since they are one-size-fits-all. Just make sure they aren't too large or over-power their tiny frames.
I have so much fun matching Vy's style to her lively personality and old soul. A tiny part of me is curious to see how her personal style will develop as she gets older, but the rest of me wishes she could stay little forever. Ah well, there is some comfort in knowing I can still share my scarves with her when we're both older.
